| Welcome to the Fifteenth
Annual Artists' Open House Weekend: A unique event that has become an art-lover's
tradition on Columbus Day Weekend - October 8, 9 & 10, 2011. All studios are
open daily 10am-6pm.
This self-guided tour to 24 artists at 19 locations features the abundant
beauty of Susquehanna County: photography fused glass jewelry
wood-carving unique wood-, gas-, & electric-fired ceramics paintings
in many media and styles collage sculpture bird carving field
stone walls porcelain painting stained glass & glass tableware
contemporary wood furniture fine art giclee prints This
is a great chance to observe art being created and chat with your local artists
& crafts-people. Some of these studios are only open this one weekend of the
year. Others will welcome you to return once you know the way. On Monday,
many artists demonstrate an aspect of their craft. This is an opportunity to see
how it is done and you can enjoy some at-length conversation in relaxed surroundings.
You may wish to inquire ahead as to the nature and time of the demonstration you
are interested in. Some will be on-going. Some will be scheduled. All will be
fun for the artists to share and a chance for you to learn something new or get
some insight in to the 'how and why' of creative skill. The tour is FREE.
All artists have work for sale in their studios: some take credit cards. All welcome
browsers. Some are handicap accessible. Contact the individual studios for details.
Artists donate a portion of their sales to benefit Florence Shelly Preserve,
Woodbourne Forest Preserve and Friends of Salt Springs State Park. We encourage
you to discover these beautiful natural areas in Susquehanna County.
